Gig Harbor Marina Boatyard

I wanted to take a minute to describe the excellent experience that I recently had with GHMB. My boat was hauled out for bottom paint, a few new thru-hulls, zincs, etc. The work was top-notch, and the yard manager Patrick was excellent at keeping me in the loop. Kevin not only installed the two new thru-hulls that I requested, but also found one more that was way past its prime and on the verge of failing. He personally went aboard my boat with me to explain all the work that he did. He did a great job! Lawrence was excellent at diagnosing the source of the electrical circuit failure that affected my bilge pumps and replacing the necessary components to get things back in working order. He is excellent! In talking with the yard manager (Patrick) I learned that he is a Navy veteran of over 20 years, and has been around worked on boats all of his life. I could definitely tell by his interactions with both employees and customers that his leadership is crucial to the success of GHMB. Lastly, I discovered a small mistake that had been made while work was performed (hey, stuff happens). Patrick and crew went out of their way to make sure that it was rectified and I was a perfectly happy customer. I feel like Patrick crew treated my boat as if it were their own, and me like a friend.

We needed prop work done. We called and we had an appt within a few days. Props were sent off for repair and back on within 4 days of arriving. Thank-you Mark and David for working overtime to get us back in the water to enjoy the July 4 weekend. They saved our summer. The staff from office to yard workers, including management were nice, friendly and professional. We consider them friends. Its niceto have boatyard we can depend on.

Lots of drama for a relatively simple boatyard task: I hired Gig Harbor Marina Boatyard to apply 2 coats of bottom paint over an already painted hull in good condition.The final invoice I received was 51% higher than the original estimate. There was no extra work requested and no indication of any price change coming.Printed on the first page of the original invoice was a written promise to call (first) if the job charge looked like it could exceed the original estimate by 10%. They did not.When I politely asked the yard manager Patrick about the 51% increase he said; It was just an estimate . When asked about the written promise to notify me beforehand of a price change; he simply shrugged his shoulders.I paid the invoice and moved the boat back to her slip.Next I contacted the yard owner Ron Roark with the details of the transaction, offering to pay 110% of the original estimate (I was seeking a partial refund). After almost a week and me sending a polite reminder that I wasn 't going away; he agreed to the refund. These are actual quotes from his bizarre email: We will comply with your extortionist demand for rebate of... Not withstanding that we had already discounted the bill from $5500 to $3800 you nevertheless pursued this issue. We would absolutely prevail in a court of law.(please google me) if we pursued collection please note that I have no earthly idea where the $5500 came from, or why they 'd pursue collection because the invoice had already been paid My team was exemplary in this matter. You were not. Please do not attempt to visit our Boatyard as you are permanently on the do not service list which we willingly share with our fellow boatyards in the south sound . In short…. my team has rigorously tried to mitigate this situation… to no avail .Etc. Yes, a lot of drama for a customer that was never anything but super polite to everyone at the yard from receptionist to owner. A customer, with over 50 years of boats owned, that 's NEVER had a bad experience in any of the countless yards I 've hired.I picked Gig Harbor Marina Boatyard because we live close by and the initial contact with office staff was a great experience; very friendly and capable. The price (the 1st price) was a minimal bit more than some reputable boatyards nearby If you choose this yard BE CAREFUL.

Great price for a public marina. Nice bathrooms. Great location.

Great place to moor your boat. Very well kept and great staff. I enjoy the place.
