Cafe at John Henry's - GARDEN BAY

This is a great casual cafe. We stopped here for a family dinner and thorough enjoyed it. The food is good and the location is outstanding. There are a few tables inside, with a larger outdoor patio that is over the water. The view of Pender Harbour is exceptional. The service is friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend this cafe. I can't wait to try it for breakfast and lunch.

We have been here 3 times for dinner. Fish and Chips were good. Mine was a little chewy the first time but my husband and friend had it another time and it was good. I had the flatbread pizza, 4 cheese version. Best pizza ever. My son had a burger and my daughter had fish tacos. Both were excellent. This is a good choice for a place to eat. Getting busy so best to make a reservation.

We were told this was a great place, so we reserved and took our family of 13 (8 adults & 5 kids) to dinner at this cafe. It was great sitting out on the deck with the view and beautiful weather. Unfortunately, my chicken burger was the worst I've ever had. The menu stated it was a 5 ounce grilled chicken breast with lettuce, tomato, raw onion and pickles. The lettuce was fresh, but the tomato slice was old and there were no onions or pickles; just a blob of mayo and that was it. The breast was overdone and dried out. One of our son's had it as well; same thing. My husband's fries (and several others in our group), although tasty, were cold. His 7 oz beef burger looked good, but he said it was just ok. My fries and some of the others in our group were very hot, which was great. Our group said the fish was good. Overall, I wouldn't go back to this place for a meal. Very disappointing and not cheap at over $200 (no one had dessert or alcohol and most had water to drink).

I visited John Henrys on a couple of occasions and on the last visit decided to try their cafe. We were greeted by a lady who showed us to a table with lovely views inside. We asked for menus and a couple of mugs of coffee while we decided what to order. Our food order was taken within 5 mins and at this point we also pointed out that our coffee still hadn't arrived. We were informed that a new jug was being made. 17 minutes later I could see into the kitchen and saw that our food was ready but still no coffee. We eventually had our coffee after our food was delivered. Whilst we were waiting I added up the number of guests - total 9, number of members of staff in kitchen 7. With 7 members of staff you would think that the service would be impeccable, not so. The food itself was very nice, I had crab cakes and carrot cake.
