Fado No Paladar - Funchal

Small family restaurant run by fado musicians led by Alexandra Sousa and her relatives. They cook, serve and play music: singers sing passionately and serve food! Very personal contact , good food and great overall experience: and it is not an exaggeration as we have seen some of the best fado Anna Moura , etc) already. Fully reccommended!

A great place to experience intensive fado music and have an enjoyable dinner at the same time. The paintings on the walls are exquisite!

Unbelievable find expected a meal in a very atmospheric restaurant but served by staff who had the most incredible voices, accompanied by beautiful Portuguese guitars. Multitasking in the kitchen glorious food. What a family

This was by far the most memorable meal we had in Madeira gorgeous food in an intimate and atmospheric setting tucked down a street in the old town, served by a lovely friendly and welcoming family whilst they sang, moving traditional Fado songs with powerful and beautiful voices . It’s a really moving experience, topped off by delicious food and wine. I had delicious fresh tuna served sizzling on a hot stone and despite the very short notice they also cooked my partner a delicious vegan dish. It was my favourite night in Funchal and I’d really recommend it for any one who wants a taste of the local history and culture and a lovely meal
