Worst buffet I ever went to. The food they serve seems been cooked for a long hour and they are dry.
Food is always cold and dry. Newark buffet will always be my go to!
When it comes to buffet restaurants, I can be somewhat skeptical on where to go. However, this was planned by one of my family members since it was to be a very large gathering of us (roughly 25 people) so they were able to accommodate us with the time which was at 12:15pm during the afternoon of Saturday 7/20/2022. This takes me on a trip to Fremont, CA where I had the opportunity in trying out World Gourmet Buffet . Located in a strip-mall directly on Stevenson Blvd. and right off I-880 (Nimitz Freeway) in the heart of Fremont, this particular restaurant has stood here for quite some time and is surrounded by other ethnic eateries (Chinese, Shanghaiese, and Korean). Parking can be very challenging as this place can get extremely crowded during all hours of the day. However, they are open 7 days a week from 11am-9pm. As of mid-2022, lunch is priced at $16.99 Mon-Fri and $19.99 on Saturday while dinner is priced at $25.99 every day. The setup here is very simple; you basically state how many are dining there, pay at the register, grab a plate, and proceed to the self-serve buffet area. What really sets this place apart from many buffet restaurants is that they predominantly focus on seafood. Meaning that you will find a ton of shrimp, crawfish, mackerel, oysters, clams. octopus, calamari, and a variety of sushi rolls. There is also a nice assortment of meat/poultry items such as beef, pork and chicken and of course vegetarian options such as eggplant, rice, stir-fry green beans, broccoli. Finally they have healthy options such as assorted fruit and desserts such as cookies, pastries, cream puffs, Jell-O, cakes, and self-serve ice cream. After grabbing my first plate, I load it up with a couple crawfish, an egg roll, various sushi rolls, a BBQ chicken wing, noodles, and glazed shrimp. Some words of wisdom regarding the sushi and that would be to avoid it at all costs. It was cold, bland, flavorless, and not much better than the packaged supermarket sushi. The crawfish also did not have much meat inside of it. However, the chicken wing was delicious while the shrimp was juicy and moist. When I returned for seconds and thirds, the food can really be a hit or miss here. Much of it was either too bland or too salty so it really varies depending on what you get. One other drawback is that this place can get crowded. VERY crowded. So much to a point where you are bumping shoulder-to-shoulder to the person next to you getting food. Another thing was there was quite a few empty food stations. I wanted to enjoy Chow Mein with my orange chicken but they were out. And the Bao Buns were completely out during the whole time I was there. However, the fruit was rather good; specifically the honeydew, cantaloupe, and papaya. Service can really be a hit or miss; especially with the servers working nonstop taking dirty plates, refilling soft drink orders, and providing water to guests. So there you have it; World Gourmet Buffet is a somewhat forgettable Asian buffet restaurant. If you come for lunch, the price can 't be beat. But there 's a reason why it 's so affordable and that 's mainly because their food just isn 't top notch. Do yourself a favor and dine as a specialty restaurant as this part of the Bay Area is loaded with amazing, ethnic restaurants in every direction. My rating (and I am being generous), just an average three stars.
This place is SO GOOD!! I don't understand why it has 2 stars overall.... I think some people expect too much from a buffet. The food here is great and the service is perfectly fine. Don't trust the bad comments. People are too sensitive and too picky these days lol. You're definitely going to leave this place satisfied!! Also they have sriracha and this is a big deal with the fact that there's a shortage!
