Otto's German Bistro - Fredericksburg

We went for Sunday brunch. Didn't have reservations but were able to secure a walk in table for two just as they opened at 11am. The restaurant has a cute enclosed patio you enter through to the indoor dining. Both spaces are small, yet inviting. Maybe 8 tables inside and a 5 top bar. The coffee is good and the **** mary has a nice spice that warms you up. We tried Otto's Reuben and the Zitronenwaffel both really great! Nice portion sizes and plated beautifully. I really enjoyed the fresh fruit and mint on the lemon ricotta waffle. My husband shared a bite of his Reuben... I know what I'll go for next time! When we are back in Fredericksburg, I'll definitely stop in to try dinner.

Stopped by looking for eats/food with some friends. We enjoy high top bars rather than sitting at a table. The staff was very annoyed and demanding that we sit at a table. Its got silly as they tried to get us to move from where we wanted to be. The reason... the boss will look at the cameras and see that you are uncomfortable . Which we assured them we weren 't. We offered to sign a waiver absolving them of blame... No. The boss will be mad at them We went round and round until finally the other people at the bar got weirded out and left. Still don 't understand it. Left a bad feeling behind, that hasn 't gone away in a week...

I can't believe I forgot to write a review for this spot! I have been here 3 times and I LOVE this restaurant. It is definitely my favorite restaurant in Fredericksburg. I've only been here for dinner though. First, reservations are a must. They tend to book up a few weeks in advance (esp on weekends), but the reservation platform (Tock) is easy to use. I absolutely love that they are dog friendly on their patio. Each time I've been here, they have been able to seat us promptly (once, they were even able to take us an hour before our reservation because we were so hungry). The freshly baked bread is absolutely delicious. Then, every time without fail I order the duck schnitzel and add a fried duck egg on top. It is SO GOOD. Every single detail on the plate has its place, and the different flavors and textures combine to make the perfect scrumptious meal. I have also tried the German sausages once. They were also very tasty, but the flavor is a little more monotone compared to the duck schnitzel. Highly recommend you try this place out!

This is a charming place with delicious food! The staff is pleasant and accommodating, and lots of delicious gluten free food including amazing delicious cheesecake with pecan crust!!! Dietary restrictions: Really great gluten free choices. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner
