Kingsley Inn - Fort Madison

Great place to stay with good views of the river.We stayed two nightsWe had room 207 with 3 large windows and could watch the barges and trains pass by. Everything in the hotel was in very good condition.Nice little bar onsite.Lost Duck Brewery next door.The Fort Diner is a block or two down the street and a great place for breakfast.Parking behind the hotelNice riverside park across the street with the old steam engine, Old Fort Madison and the train depot a couple blocks down the street.

I found out about the Kingsley Inn thanks to the Virtual Railfan cam hosted here. I had wanted to visit here ever since. The Inn is very Victorian style with clean and well furnished rooms. The staff are great, and very friendly. I had a great stay and highly recommend the inn to everyone visiting Fort Madison.

Great for train lovers! Also it's just a beautiful location across from a park right on the Mississippi River a short walk away. Watch trains and river traffic. Amtrak station and a couple of museums are also an easy walk away. The double-deck swing bridge is amazing when it opens to let river traffic pass through.One real plus that I happened to find out by accident: If you drive an EV, there are free charging stations a half block to the west of Kingsley Inn. I left my plug-in hybrid there overnight. At 240 v., it would not be a fast charge for an all-electric vehicle, but it was more than fast enough for my plug-in.
