River Japanese Cuisine - FLUSHING

My wife and I ordered from the all you can eat menu, and the price came to around $40 per person. The menu gives small sampler sizes of some of the appetizers (takoyaki comes with 2 balls) but full sizes of their sushi rolls! I’d say if you can eat a lot of sushi in one sitting until you’re full, definitely go with the buffet. I have also dined at their restaurant before, and their Deluxe Ramen was To DIE for! The thing I ate in the video was the bbq Pork Skewer, the spices and flavors EXPLODE and coat your taste buds with seasonings to remember, they’re tiny but they are Flavor Bombs!!!The service ladies are always on the move so you need to catch them while they’re passing by, they were ALWAYS asking if I needed refills on water and tea, however in the evening hours the “hot” tea does become Luke warm (since they were prepping to close for the night at the time when I was there, it makes sense they wouldn’t keep making new hot portions of tea). They were very friendly, always telling us what food item they were bringing so we knew if we wanted to order the same thing again. They take a bit longer to serve the hot items than the sushi though since they cook everything there to order, so that’s important to keep in mind!The ambience is very calm with lower lighting, and the booths are very private, separated with a bamboo screen partition. They have some statues of anime characters, as well as a conservative amount of anime posters that match the color theme of the restaurant. There is always anime playing on each of the TV monitors (which is very nice for a weeaboo like me)!All in all I’ll give this place a 5/5, even though they had some flaws later durring their closing hours, I’d say come here at the end of lunch start of dinner time for the best experience!Definitely go check this place out!!!

We went for the all you can eat and drink. The food presentation was good, and good freshness.The drinks were ok, left much to be desired.The restroom for men is cramped.

While this review is based on the most recent visit, I'm also keeping in mind the older nice experiences of the restaurant in pre-covid times.The food is tasty and there are a decent number of options that a whole party can enjoy. However, the service today (Thursday afternoon) was really bad. Extremely hard to flag down workers and no one really came around to give extra slips for ordering or take extra orders. After one hour and thirty minutes, the second slip was not even completed, with some items not even being there.This is really disappointing to say, especially when my group used to come here every other month years ago and always had a nice time. Spoke to a nice man who said he was the manager over the phone and relayed this information, so I really hope this place can turn it around.P.S There is a mandatory service charge for any party size (as low as one) of about 18% as of June 29th, 2023.

We bought delivery from Main St. the sushi they delivered was messy. Idk what’s going on, and the taste ok…. Not as good as the one in bayside. Disappointed!Food: 1/5

The service leaves a bit more to be desired. They don’t come that often to check if you’re running out of drinks and take new orders. Usually you have to grab their attention instead. On the flip side the food is decent and the sushi and sashimi was good. Definitely worth trying out the special rolls they make as well.
