Weathervane Tavern - Essex

I wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation for Weathervane. The food they serve is absolutely exceptional, and the staff is always friendly and attentive. I have had the pleasure of dining there multiple times, and each experience has been consistently outstanding. From the delicious flavors to the impeccable service

Very good portions. Salad with dinner was excellent, baked stuffed shrimp large and hot, steak tips very tender and scallops good but slightly overcooked. The waitress was very friendly and helpful and the decor was charming!

The food is always good, but the biggest problem is the staffing. They have 13 tables and only had waitress. The waitress has a hip problem. She works her ass off. But they need at least 2 people too keep up when it's full. Another thing I noticed is they used to have real mashed potatoes. Now it's the box type. Little taste.

Food was decent, but the server... I just can 't go back. I didn 't really need to hear about you and your friends ' drug habits. By didn 't really need to I mean didn 't want to at all . I 'm sorry that you and your friend ran into trouble just before you started tripping that one time. Thankfully you clarified that it was not like you were about to trip over an object on the floor, you meant on some sort of drug trip. I suppose I could have asked to clarify which substance it was, exactly. That your friend got into needle drugs and has some serious stuff going on is a bummer, but that seems like some personal business maybe everyone doesn 't want to hear. Maybe if you haven 't kicked the drug habit you might consider it. Overall, it wasn 't really what I was looking for during my meal.

Unexpected! This is the neighborhood go to and it's wonderful. Great service, atmosphere, and food! Anytime I have friends visit we walk over for lunch or dinner and it never disappoints. Visitors from outside New England love what I call regional comfort food (sometimes including Yankee Pot Roast), and the vibe and the friendly servers always impress them. What happened to the snooty reputation of New Englanders? ‍ It's not here!
