Incredible food and wonderful service. The bacon and waffles are to die for! The eggs benedict was pretty awesome too. We'll definitely be back.
I was surprised to find that other reviewers found their experience at Ocean Blues unsatisfactory, as mine was wonderful! I know that the restaurant has fairly recently changed ownership though, so maybe that explains it.For myself, I was delighted by my meal at Ocean Blues and by the real sense of "warm friendly service" which sadly is often lacking in this town's cafes and restaurants.I'm big on soup, and on this particular day I was served one that wasn't just a bowl of liquid, it was a whole taste exploration adventure! Put together and crafted - really, it was impressive. They were even happy to let me have it even though it was still closer to breakfast than lunch - the chef himself let me know that he'd gladly whip me up a bowl, if that was my heart's desire!Honestly, you can't ask for more than that. I was in heaven. My partner barely got a word of conversation out of me since I was too busy swooning over my soup for the duration of the meal.
When booking we were told we could bring our own wine as it was a BYO. We did so and on arriving asked for a beer before our dinner. Were told it was purely a BYO. If we had have realised this we would have bought our own. We both had a seafood basket. The fish was dry and we had to ask for lemon and tartare sauce. The meal was very disappointing.
Quality of the food was poor, oysters tasted old and bacon was burnt! I would expect better food from a counter meal at a pub! Their service was prompt but that's the only upside to this outdated "restaurant" (using that term very loosely)
