On a visit to Erice on May 9th I was enticed by a sign outside the door to purchase one cannoli and one Genovese pastry to take away At Vinoteca Winimar Erice. The man serving me was very grumpy and rude. He handed me the two items in a bag and pushed a card machine to me and said tap. I told him I was paying cash . As I was taking the notes out he grabbed €15 out of my hand. When I protested and asked how much I owed he said €12. I asked how much for each he said €8 for the Cannoli and €4 the Genovese. I was shocked. He handed me a receipt but when I looked at it the items were not named it said 10%€8 and 10% €4. I felt very cheated and upset. As I left the store complaining he followed me and handed me €2 back. It ruined my visit to Erice as a tourist I felt very ripped off.
What a crook. 4 espresso coffees and two poorly made basic pastries 26Euros. Why I didn’t tell him where to put them I don’t know. Next time. Unfriendly owner ripping people off. Why are the authorities in Erice allowing this idiot to trade in this manner? This is doing your town’s business no good at all!! You need people to leave the town telling their friends (and social media) how good the experience was not that they got ripped off for a coffee and a pastry??? People like this are bad for business!!
Visited BAR VINOTECA for a Cannoli on the 9th May 2022 as they had a large advertisement outside stating Cannoli Siciliani. We were met by a sullen gentleman who seemed annoyed we had interrupted his conversation in order to serve a customer. Ordered my Cannoli was shocked when he asked me for €8.00 for 1 Cannoli. I protested without any luck until I left the shop when he ran out gave me €2.00. What's going on here I ask ??
2 dcl of wine for 8€. Everything ridiculously overpriced. Few meters and you will find much better places.
