Pamir Afghan Cuisine - Emeryville

This restaurant is one of several small eateries located in the international market in Emeryville. The cuisine appears to be a blend of Indian and Persian flavors, which may not be to everyone’s taste, but that's the impression I received. The staff were friendly and offered me a sample of their BBQ chicken, which is always a nice touch. I decided to order the BBQ chicken along with the Shami plate. The BBQ chicken is prepared differently than what Americans typically expect, but it was quite good and tender, though I would have preferred more sauce. The Shami, resembling a ground beef kebab, was also tasty, but it would have been better with some yogurt or a sauce to complement it. The rice was topped with a lentil curry, which added a delightful touch and enhanced the overall rice dish. Overall, it was a decent place to dine, although there are many other intriguing restaurants in the area. Personally, I enjoyed the food, though I can understand why it might not appeal to everyone.
