Dunlop Lake - Elliot Lake

Friends took us to Dunlop Lake Lodge in November and we were impressed with the tasty meal and caring, attentive service. This month we suggested an evening out at Dunlop with another couple, but hindsight being 20/20 wish we had not. The meal was mediocre at best and the service far from adequate. We felt as if we'd overstayed our welcome and she could not wait for us to leave. What happened? Where was the first waitress who not only knew what she was doing, but seemed to really care? (The second waitress did not even offer us menus.) We're not likely to return after such a disappointing evening. Also, the room was cold, cold, cold. All four of us mentioned it. I can't imagine how it will be when temps dip to -20C.

We arrived just before the dining room was closing and opted for a light meal, ordering fish and chips as well as a hamburger steak with onions. The fish was huge, delicious, and a great value for the price. However, the hamburger steak was a bit disappointing as the meat was chewy and lacked flavor, making it somewhat overpriced compared to the fish. The service was excellent, with a new waiter who did a fantastic job and ensured we were well taken care of. The owner/operators also stopped by our table to ensure everything was satisfactory, which was a nice touch that not many owners do. I cannot speak to the fine dining options at the restaurant, but I would suggest improving the wine list to enhance the upscale experience for guests. While our light meal was enjoyable, we may choose more wisely from the menu on our next visit. Lastly, it is worth noting that the current owners have only had the property for about 2 1/2 years, so negative reviews from 2013 may not be reflective of the current situation. Overall, we look forward to returning and having a better dining experience next time.

We brought our granddaughters to Dunlop Lake Lodge for our traditional fish and chips dinner during their summer visit. Once again, we were impressed by the efficient and friendly service, as well as the delicious food. Our granddaughters enjoyed being able to dine on the terrace and walk down to the water, just like my husband and I. We always love the food and ambiance at Dunlop Lake Lodge.

My wife and I have only been there once and plan on going there this month. Nice scenery over looking the lake, food and service is excellent.

This place is pretty amazing. They have a deck that overlooks the lake with a gorgeous view. Thier waitresses are very kind and the owner is very appreciative. The food is pretty good for the price Tuesday fish and chips are the best.
