Kildonan Cafe - Eilean Siar

This restaurant is a beautiful hidden gem along the road. We decided to stop here to escape the heat and it turned out to be a much-needed break in our day. The museum had a lot of fascinating information and the cozy cafe was just lovely.

The museum is not open. café is excellent coffee, wonderful baking and super service. worth a visit.

The museum was fantastic! It was very interesting and informative. I would definitely recommend it. However, the cafe on the other side was not great. We felt unwelcome as the employees seemed to prioritize a tour bus over us. All tables were taken, so our party of 4, including my two elderly parents who needed to sit and rest, were disappointed.

I wish I could share details of our experience... but we were sitting in the adjoining cafe at 3.45 and the shutters came down!! It's supposed to be open until 5.00 pm!! Poor show, Kildonan....

This restaurant is definitely worth a visit. The museum is very informative, covering the history of crofting, land ownership, and its impact on the people of the south. The displays are well done. The coffee was good and the staff were friendly. Don't miss out on this place.
