Louisiana Purchase - Edmonton

This place is Great! Delicious food and the service was friendly! Me and my boyfriend shared an alligator appetizer, and i had the seafood jambalya and it was delicious! Would come back again!

My husband and I went to Louisiana Purchase for our anniversary on Aug. 5. We had been there before and quite enjoyed our meals then, so we decided to go again for this anniversary. We had been to New Orleans in December and wanted to have another taste of Louisiana cuisine. Once again, we were not disappointed. Our meals were delicious and the service was excellent.We started with the shrimp bisque. I don’t like shrimp, but this was great! For his entrée, my husband had the Steamboat Jambalaya which consisted of crab, shrimp, mussels, whitefish, spicy sausage, vegetables served with creole sauce,

I have been an occasional patron of this restaurant since it opened in 1989, and have been saddened since the latest owners group have taken over. The food and service used to be excellent. Even when visiting with larger parties for Special Events, and had a fabulous time and were treated very well by the former staff and owner for my Birthday last Aug. I tried to book a table this year and were informed that they would require a credit card to book and would be charging $10 per spot (10 people), all be it it would be applied to our bill the night of. But, I was disgusted that they thought I would be happy to be a patron and feel like celebrating a Birthday with them.I think they may have forgotten that they are in the service industry. I contemplated not reviewing them but after reading reviews over several sights I am disappointed at what is happening to this long standing Edmonton institution, in regards to service and food quality, and I will no longer recommend them to my visiting clients.

Took my family to Louisiana Purchase for dinner tonight and was pleasantly surprised. Our service was great and the food came out quickly and beautifully. The only minor comment I have is that my fried chicken could have had a bit more spice. Other then that a perfect evening.

We've been here twice now, and will definitely go back. My husband likes the alligator, but the portion is quite small, which is understandable. The soup/gumbo is great, as are the jambalayas and blacked fish. The chicken dinner and chicken with waffles were really good and the portions are huge! Next time I'm going to try to leave room for one of their desserts, which look amazing!
