We decided to try this restaurant for brunch based on a recommendation and we were extremely satisfied. The food was delicious and the coffee was excellent. The staff was friendly and we were pleasantly surprised by the diverse menu options. They offer a great selection of authentic Southern Italian recipes. We will definitely return in the future.
We came across Gaia by chance, as we don't live in this area, but enjoyed our initial experience (of just cake, tea/ coffee so much that we returned for a meal recently. It's truly a family business. The people there really care about the quality of both the individual ingredients and the finished plates of food it's worth waiting for (and being adventurous . They are also clearly a part of their community, taking time to make both regular customers and new guests feel comfortable, welcome, and cared for. I learned that part of the family comes from the same town in Sicily as some of my cousins; not only do I enjoy the chance to practice speaking Italian, but to be honest, some of the treats at Gaia are even better than what I remember enjoying back in Sicily! (In fairness, they import fresh and high quality items directly from Sicily as well. On our most recent visit, my husband and I shared a delicious plate of grilled vegetables, burrata cheese bursting with freshness and flavor, and delicate prosciutto slices. The perfect portion size for two people, still leaving us with plenty of room in our stomachs for a main course and a dessert. We shared two of the day's special pasta options, and a selection of fresh Italian pastries as well. We will definitely be going back perhaps next time we need to plan for the weekly changing Sicilian Feast!
We had a great mushroom and truffle tagliatelle today. its become a favourite place to meet friends for lunch. Its affordable, delicious with lots of great fresh and dry produce to pick up. Family run and one of Leith Walks finest.
We stumbled upon this restaurant while exploring the city and we are so happy we did. We enjoyed a perfect lunch consisting of 3 different fresh pasta dishes followed by homemade cannoli- all of which were delicious! The coffee was also excellent. And all for a very reasonable price. Thank you! We will definitely be returning.
