But they have sachets of red and brown sauce but apparently nobody else wants mustard and the very concept was treated as if caviar had been the request. Cheapest bread possible for toast in a curled up state. The concept of a full cup of black coffee in a mug was an alien concept. Apparently you can only have a mug for latte. Pancakes arrive…. No maple syrup. This was not explained at point of order or on delivery. Explained on challenge that they had run out. So £4.50 later I have my own bottle from the co-op 6 doors up. Shocking.
We decided to stop by this restaurant during our day trip. It was bustling with energy, which is usually a positive sign. The coffee was delicious and they had a variety of tasty tray bakes to choose from. The service was also excellent.
We really enjoyed our visit today on a day trip to Berwick! The menu was plentiful and the service was friendly and fast. Our party ordered panini, savoury croissant soup, and pancakes! (The pancakes were so delicious that we ordered an additional plate to share!
During our visit to North Berwick, we tried several cafes and found that Zanzibar offered the best flat whites at a reasonable price. The staff was incredibly friendly and the atmosphere was laid-back. The food also looked delicious.
This is the second time we have encountered rude and sour service here. My friend ordered a club sandwich which came slowly, after I had finished my omelette and without the advertised bacon. We couldnt get anyone's attention (they seemed to be actively avoiding us) so she ate the adequate sandwich. When she mentioned that there was no bacon in the sandwich, the person serving looked totally hostile and shrugged her shoulders making the whole scene extremely awkward. She offered my friend bacon on the side (my hungry friend had eaten half the sandwich which was getting cold) and when my friend declined she reluctantly offered another sandwich (her face was extremely sour and she made us feel really awkward). This woman (dark haired) should not be working in customer service. She then angrily asked my friend if she wanted her money back. My friend gratefully accepted and this woman went on to bitterly complain about it in front of all the other customers. It was kind of mortifying for everyone there. Could have been easily resolved they took 10 minutes to let my friend know that they didn't have the flavour of San Pelligrino that she had ordered either so I think the refund was the least she could have done.
