The menu had a good variety, so we decided to try the fish and chips. My friend really enjoyed their meal, while I tried the dish of the day, which was beef mushroom cake with mashed vegetables. The cake was tasty, as was the mashed vegetable, but the other vegetables were disappointing. It seemed like a random assortment of leftover vegetables thrown together on the plate. The server, Marlene, was great and even went out of her way to help a group of French tourists who couldn't speak English. She was patient and accommodating, which made for a pleasant dining experience despite the disappointing meal. Marlene is the kind of person you want to see in the hospitality industry, and she is a real asset to Doyle's.
After checking into our airport hotel and taking the shuttle bus to the city, we arrived at Doyles for our first meal. This classic pub exceeded our expectations with its friendly service, warm atmosphere, and delicious food. And of course, the beer was excellent too!
While exploring Dublin on a Saturday afternoon, my companions and I were in search of a meal and some local specialties. We decided to give Doyle's a try and were met with incredibly friendly staff and a warm Irish welcome. The menu offered reasonably priced snacks, and we opted for the classic BLT which came with a side of chips. The Guinness we ordered was expertly poured and went down smooth. The restaurant had a beautiful interior as well. Before leaving, I inquired about the closest taxi rank to take us back to the docks. The staff graciously provided directions, advising us to cross O'Connell Bridge and turn right, ensuring we wouldn't have to take an expensive round trip from Dublin. This tip was greatly appreciated.
We had a fantastic experience at this traditional Irish Pub, feeling cozy and comfortable throughout our visit. The owner, Declan Doyle, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helped us discover local attractions and landmarks. The food was delicious and satisfying. In the evenings, the atmosphere became livelier with Trinity College students, making it a fun environment. We highly recommend checking out The Ruby Sessions on Tuesday nights, a special event showcasing local singer/songwriters. It is typically very crowded, so be sure to arrive early if you want a seat. Don't forget to bring cash as the cover charge and upstairs bar only accept cash. Additionally, the cover charge at The Ruby Sessions goes towards a local charity.
Nice pub with plenty of character. Just behind Trinity so very central but far enough from the Temple Bar area and the tourist routes. Good selection of beer on taps.
