As this was our first visit, she helped us make good beer choices from the local beers (this is the kind of place where if you get beer by the bottle they ask, “Do you want a glass”? , and an appetizer. We wanted to try the local whitefish, and she advised the best way to order it (lemon and pepper, not the Cajun, at least not for our tastes . The place was full of locals. At the table next to us there was a group of visiting business people, but casually dressed—this is not an upscale place. We loved the moose head on the wall (see the photo , but were so impressed with our waitress (I wish I knew her name , we gave her a 50% tip. I never do that. So: if you come here, you’ll be warmly welcomed, get decent food, local atmosphere, and leave full.
We make a point of visiting once a week but try not to visit on the same day each week. They have a different special and all of them are good. Of course fish on Friday but Italian, Mexican all kinds of stuff. Pizza is worth while too
Saturday night was prime rib night, so we had to try it. We got there early enough it wasn't crowded, so we got seated right away. Our server, Jeanette, was really on the ball and we had our drinks and order without a hitch.
If you stay until close you might need boxing gloves on occasion but super cool old town bar. Drinks are priced reasonably and cold!! Had a great time!! Pool table and darts available.
We were there on the 4th of July and it was a zoo because they were one of the only places open! The staff was doing the BEST they could given the circumstances! I called to see if they were open and they could have turned me away knowing how busy they were. But, I was told if I didn't mind the wait, they would find somewhere for us to sit. The food is GREAT! My husband and I had the trout. You could have it done 3 different ways, I had lemon pepper and my husband had Cajun. Both were excellent!
