Railroad Bill's Dining Car - Des Moines

We sat right away. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant building was pretty tidy to look around. I had an omelette, potatoes and toast. My food was hot and very good. Large portions for a reasonable price.

Nice place. Neat atmosphere. Pleasant staff. Ordered over easy eggs. I like to dunk my toast. Came out over medium. No big deal, I can spread it on my toast. Bacon was far overcooked for me. I like mine with a little bit of wiggle. Good flavor though. Ciabatta bread was very good. Coffee was good. Inside a neat little antique store. Worth the time to look around a little.

Didn't really know this place existed so wasn't really expecting a lot. The atmosphere is that of an old train depot that is connected to an antique store. The food is straight forward with not a lot of frills. Our food came out quickly, hot, and correct. In fact the meat was a little over cooked but not burnt, they just need to turn their grill down a little bit. We did ask for a side of ranch but the pre-packaged ones they gave us were expired so we didn't get to use them. All in all the food was delicious but absolutely no frills. I plan on coming back to try their lunch menu.

The wait to get food was long. The steak was overcooked. The scramble egg doesn't look appetititive. Okay place for old fashion breakfast but won't be my top choice. The omelet was good.
