We have visited a few times now, and every time there was nothing wrong. this is a beautiful, historical pub, in the center of the village, with a quirky fountain in the bottom of the bar. the bardame and the waiter are beautiful and friendly. the owners, alyson and matteo, are super, come and chat us at our first visit, take the time, we really welcome. eating is great, much better than they would expect in a pub. everything cooked to order and perfection. what makes the red lion apart for me, is the great selection of beer, cheese and brot, which is made directly there on the spatial areas, enjoy a pint and a melted cheese with acidic teigbrot, knowing that everything was born in the pub, how is this for a CO2 footprint?!
We had a fantastic meal with friends at the top pub in Derbyshire. This hidden gem is worth seeking out. We started with delicious Bircher cheese dip and homemade sourdough bread - both made by the chef. The pan-fried calves liver was cooked to perfection. Don't miss the Nine Ladies beer, brewed by the chef. Thank you, Matt and Ally, for a great dining experience.
We made a reservation and after a nice walk with our guide dog puppy, we had a delicious carvery Sunday lunch at the Red Lion. The restaurant is truly dog-friendly, with up to 8 dogs in the bar area. The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxed. The service was attentive and the food was tasty - especially the salted beef. It was a great experience.
During our last visit to the area, we only had time for a quick drink at the Red Lion. This time, we made sure to book a table for lunch after a refreshing walk from the nearby village. The weather was lovely so we were able to sit outside with our dog, although the restaurant does offer indoor seating as well.
