Illegal Pete's Du - Denver

Love it but the tipping system is out of control. This isn’t a sit down restaurant. The staff are amazing and are paid $20+ an hour. Why not just advertise the price you want me to pay. Fountain drinks are way too expensive as well and the straws are so small it removes the carbonation. You get more bang for your buck at an Applebees or Chilis.

This illegal Pete’s is decent. The food doesn’t have very much flavor and both times I went, I was not a huge fan of the food because it was pretty tasteless and the music was so loud I could barely hear the person sitting right next to me. Sometimes they have friendly staff but most of the time they are just in the grind and don’t really care. Personally, I think the location on Broadway is much better.

That Colorado verde on burritos is freaking amazing. The green salsa with chili and cheese is something almost to die for. Paired with vegan/vegetarian filling, it's a solid meal and extremely satisfying. Love the pico and the fresh vegetables in any taco or burrito.The menu is extensive and easily customizable. Generous portions assure that you won't go hungry! Bowls are almost too much for me, more like a meal and a half, and ridiculously tasty. It's a landmark for me when I'm in the city.Kid-friendliness: The kid burrito is huge and definitely sufficient for hungry tummies.

So it's been awhile since I've had illegal Pete's, was very excited to have it again last night and it was a huge disappointment. This is the second time in a row they have forgotten something on my order or food was served cold. Last night rice was not cooked, beans were not cooked, 3$ extra for a little scoop of queso and chicken didn't taste like it had been seasoned. On top of that both cookies we got were literally no where even cooked and the mast time I went they forgot the cookie all together. For paying over 30$ for something if this quality I would easily go to chipotle over this and that's just a bummer.

I always have a fantastic experience at this restaurant, thanks to the delicious food. The bar can get quite busy in the evenings, but the staff is incredibly quick with drink service, so I've never had to wait long. I've sampled everything on the menu, and I can't say there's anything I wouldn't order again. My top picks are the carnitas quesadilla, reverse nachos, and the chips with queso!
