Where the sinew slides back and forth when you try to cut it and the knife can't go through. We butcher and this was just like I had cut the meat fresh from the carcass and made it a little charred. (It did look like a nice steak) But what really annoyed me was that they tossed the end of the steak I had cut into when they recooked it. That was like $4-5 worth of meat I did not get back! My mom got a medium well and it was barely medium rare. Sent it back twice and gave up because meal was already ruined. Potato was also raw and could only eat half of it. After sending steaks back multiple times, they still were the most flavorless steaks I've had in a while. I had to ask for A-1 and I never do that. The waiter was wonderful though. And the fried cheese was pretty good. My grandma like her stuffed crab. Salad was okay. The on duty management was nice and comped the ruined steak and sent one home so I added a star.
Fairly new in town and desperately needed as we have about 90% fast food in this little town. We were so eager we showed up the first night they were open. There were some glitches which is to be expected on the first night. We knew they would work out the kinks and they have continued to improve with each visit. I cannot applaud them enough for having the spirit to not mock every other restaurants' menus (3 choices in town -very mediocre Mexican food, very sub-par BBQ, or chicken fried steak). They even have -gasp--Italian food! They definitely offer the best burgers in town, my husband has praised the meatloaf, and I've had fried shrimp. There is a nice wide variety in the menu. Service has always been attentive and courteous. In this town that's hard to find as the oilfield has grabbed up the vast majority of workers. As of our last visit (end of March 2015) they were still awaiting their liquor license but you can BYOB and they'll cheerfully provide a bucket of ice and appropriate glassware. The venue has vast potential with a big front porch with tables and a nice outdoor space that begs for entertainment. The interior is comfortable and appointed with all the necessities. I do hope however that they will continue to upgrade the look of this place and will use it to its fullest potential as time goes on. As far as dining goes in Cuero, this place is number one in the median price range and we need to all support them so they'll continue to thrive and we won't just be stuck with drive-throughs!
Had a great chicken fried steak. Cooked cabbage side was great mmm! Give this place a try when coming thru.
A very good stop over between San Marcos Victoria. Very good hamburgers onion rings. Don't have to fight crowds in town or in Victoria.
Gorgeous setting in what appears to be a century home. Stopped early afternoon and enjoyed the serene setting, pretty walkways and outside deck heading inside. Was led through the home and into the main dining room that was graced with lots of windows. It looked like a great place for an event, wedding, meeting. Didn't feel like I was in a restaurant but still very nice. I ordered a salad and a ribeye. Super fresh salad served in a cool deep bowl. Ribeye was ordered medium and came out medium well. No big deal for me since I can eat it both ways. Still great flavor and pleasantly crispy and salty on the outside. Awesome grill marks too. This location is really interesting and has a lot to offer. I'm sure it's packed on the weekends and with good reason. Definitely felt that great Texas small town comfort here. It was like I was visiting grandma's house!
