We visited the restaurant for the first time since its refurbishment, which was lovely. However, the new staff were still as miserable and unfriendly as before. I inquired about the possibility of having a turkey sandwich for lunch, but was told that they do not offer sandwiches or anything else. The lack of service and pleasantries made us uncomfortable, so we ended up not eating anything. As a result, we do not plan on returning anytime soon and would not recommend this place to others, especially since we are locals.
First time in the area so thought we would try the Bridge Inn for tea. First off we ordered a drink at the bar but ignored for 10 mins before it was taken. We then ordered Our meals and they were awful. I had the chicken/bacon sandwich which came with no coleslaw(obviously forgot) side salad (just lettuce peppers) Bread was hard. Chicken was dry and bacon was as tough as old boots. No courtesy check to see if food was ok. Seemed a popular pub but that’s obviously because there’s nowhere else for miles. Overpriced pub grub.
I visited this restaurant for dinner while in the area and was delighted by the small, mostly specials menu that was full of hearty goodness! The chef deserves high praise, as both the main course and dessert were masterpieces. Each dish was brought to the table by the chef with obvious pride. Although the restaurant itself was a bit run down, I heard that improvements are in progress. Some reviewers noted that the 'Bar Manager' seemed a bit cold and standoffish, but I still had a pleasant experience overall. I will definitely return when I am in the area again.
Had a lovely lunch here two years ago when we were last in the Lakes and we were looking forward to our return. We were very disappointed. I went to the bar to order, the bar manager (Humphrey? did not greet me, did not ask what I wanted and generally looked totally fed up that he had to put himself out serving me. The food was merely average When I went to settle the bill all Humphrey did was put the bill in front of me and proffer the card machine. There was no enquiry as to whether we enjoyed our meal, no thank you for our custom, once again I felt that it was all too much trouble. In addition when we were there two years ago the lock on the disabled loo was faulty and the door could not be locked. Two years on and it is still not fixed. I can assure you that it is bad enough being disabled without worrying that someone may barge in while one is using the loo.
