There is a buffet at lunch and dinner, and menu service if you so desire. Todays buffet was CFS, bbq sausage, and catfish. 3 or 4 veggies, salad, drink, and dessert, all for under $10. What a deal! Please don't go expecting a gourmet dinner. This is down home country cooking that was really good. We'll be back.
Food is wonderful. homemade deserts wonderful friendly service. A bit hard to find, but worth it
First off, I'll say that I am pretty critical of Texas BBQ. I cook a mean brisket and I've tried most of the best available in the state. Maybe it was because it was Saturday. Maybe it was just an off day. Either way, this highly rated BBQ joint missed the mark for me. I ordered a 3 meat platter ribs, brisket and sausage. My two fellow diners had the same. First, the ribs were unseasoned, barely smoked and were not cooked to tender. Instead, the tasted as if they were boiled...and not long enough to release the meat off the bone, at that. The brisket was a little better, but not too much. It had obviously been smoked but was very, very dry. Again, maybe it was just an off day. The sausage was the best of the three meats. It was obviously a store bough variety but was smoked and decently rendered and really quite favorable. As far as the sides, between the three of us we had beans, cole slaw, potatoe salad and fries. The beans and fries were fair. The potato salad was good but very sweet. The coleslaw was a sweet mess. Even the BBQ sauce was sweet. I see a theme here! The best part of the meal was that the staff was friendly and we were served quickly. It just wasn't good BBQ, in my opinion.
