The food is always good when we go here, but today we had the best service from Christina. We sat down and one waitress said she would be with us and never came back and instead helped someone who came in 10 minutes after us. But Christina came to help us. The other waitresses ignored her when she tried to find our waitress, so Christina herself helped us. Christina was the best server we have had here. She made sure we had everything we needed and was very pleasant. Fabulous lady. We have gone here for over a decade and love the food.
Ok, let me start off by saying that being from Cincinnati originally, I've loved Skyline Chili my entire life. That being said, this particular location in Clearwater really did a number on us tonight. I've lived in the Clearwater area for the last 11 years and have been coming to this Skyline here that entire time and have loved it, until now. I preface this review with knowing about labor shortage issues and this just wasn't the case tonight. First off, as soon as we walked in, it was only moderately busy and not a single vacant table was cleaned off for new folks to come in and sit down at, NOT ONE! After I cleared off a table myself and sat down, it took 10+ minutes for anyone to come over and even speak to us. I understand being short staffed and not able to come take our order just yet, but patrons still need to be acknowledged, plain and simple. After we were able to place our order, we waited close to an hour for our food to come out. Anyone who has been to a Skyline Chili knows, you normally don't wait more than 15 minutes to get your food, much less close to an hour. There were issues when we received our food as well. The Chili Cheese Fries were cold, the salad did not have the vegetables included that are quoted as having on the menu and the buns of my Coneys were very soggy, like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for 15 minutes or so. All in all, ever since this place went under new management this past year (2022), everything has gone straight downhill. Most of the previous staff that I have gotten to know over the years have even left due to the extremely poor management that is in place. There was no hot sauce/napkins/salt/pepper on the tables either. I'm sure this is some kind of ridiculous cost cutting measure on new ownerships part but find other ways to do this, it's the little things. It pains me to say this but we will not be coming back here while this current management is still in place. I even doubt this location will make it until the end of 2023 with having issues such as these. This is just extremely disappointing considering where this place once was.
I'm from Cincinnati so whenever I am near here we stop I get my Skyline Chili fix which is a 3 way a Chili dog with mustard onions. It was delicious. Service was great!!I went to Seton H.S. near the original Skyline Chili in Price Hill. It's Greek owners named it for the Skyline of Cincinnati they viewed from the kitchen's back door. Some Cincy trivia.Vegetarian options: Side salad.Wheelchair accessibility: I am aware of it as I have special needs. Their women's BR is W/C accessible.Several handicapped spaces in the front.DR makes allowances for that as well.
So you come for the incredibly delicious chili. You put that chili in anything and it is delicious. The atmosphere is like an older outdated diner, but everything is kept in good condition, just looks outdated. The service is always super fast and friendly. The waiters often asked me if I wanted a drink to go, which is nice. They have lots of booth seats which is great.
