Couldn't ask for much more. Margaritas were on point. Potent and not too much sour mix. Salsa was also delicious and fresh. Overall, a really good experience. Top notch all around. If I lived in Clarksville, this would be my margarita spot for sure.
The parking lot was completely full on a elementary school graduation day for lunch. This place seems popular during popular eating times. The waiting wasn't too long. They have a good menu. Didn't try anything impressive or out of the ordinary. My temale could use a little more sauce or moisture. Their fajita dish is served in a huge lava stone mortar bowl , try that for fun.
El Rancho Grande is a Mexican Restaurant off Exit 11. It is a fairly new restaurant so happily the restaurant was still very clean and neat. The metal 'art work ' in the front of the restaurant is very distinctive. The staff all seemed to be authentic Mexican or Hispanic if you prefer. The service was excellent and friendly. It was enjoyable to eat here and I felt that the people working here appreciated me eating here. You cannot say this about every place a person eats at nowadays. Now to talk about the food. The most disappointing thing I tried was the thing I was brought first, the chips and salsa. The salsa was insipid. Absolutely flavorless. Fortunately, El Rancho, like most Mexican restaurants, have an amazing house (homemade) salsa. You just have to ask but beware, it is hot! The tortilla chips had no substitute and were positively dreadful. Had the chips and salsa been better I might have rated El Rancho a 5 stars but the first thing you get without ordering cannot be terrible. First impressions and everything. The chunky guacamole was also good but personally, I prefer other restaurant guacamole offerings. The tacos al Pastor was excellent and authentic. Complete with pineapple as it should be. The regular soft beef tacos were tasty and juicy with a fantastic tortilla to boot. Almost everything eaten was amazing. El Rancho Grande was very good restaurant that deserves a try if you are in the mood for great Mexican food and great service. Just bring your own tortilla chips.
Order the bean-dip appetizer with my chips. I had a side of avocado, it was delicious... perfect firm and mature. Fantastic! Sister order the El Rancho Sampler with guacamole, ask for sour cream to accompany the dish. We couldn't all end and take home with us. Very recommended by both of us! Outside decor is metal novelties, inside is cozy with tables and stands. The staff is excellent.
I’m from the south west. Grew up eating true Mexican food. Transplanted to MO and just happened to stop for the night here in Clarksville. This took me back. The wait staff was super friendly. Barely speaking enough English to get your order. Always smiling. I think I was seated near the owners. All Spanish speaking. It make me feel at home. The food was authentic, although not nearly spicy enough. (Must be a southern thing) I missed not seeing the green chile on the menu, but I have to comment them for bringing some good Mexican food to this southern city. I hope to stop here again and have another small plate of happiness.
