This is absolutely my favorite place to stop in for a coffee after my morning workout. I love the staff here, they couldn't be friendly or more efficient. Decided to stop in for breakfast this past Sunday because we had never tried their food before and their menu looks seriously delicious. On special that morning was the french toast, which they served in a different way than any other place I've been to in ChCh. First off, their bread was a cinnamon bread which was quite tasty by itself. There was no syrup, but rather a raspberry compote that was more bits of fresh raspberry than some sticky gooey sauce. I loved the taste it added to the toast! The french toast was served with a fresh cream that really tasted like whip cream. It was a great addition to the raspberry sauce and cinnamon toast. I added a side of streaky bacon as well, which was cooked perfectly. While this was a great french toast, it wasn't my favorite in the city... My husband had the Jose Burrito and he loved it. Loaded with beans and eggs and spinach, this is definitely the best breakfast burrito we've found so far. They were served with potatoes (and if you ask nicely, they'll bring you some hot sauce). I definitely will return to try a staple menu item because they're muesli (my friend has had it before) looks AMAZING. It is loaded with apples, macadamia nuts and other oaty healthy goodness. You definitely get your money's worth with the macadamia nuts alone. Also, their counter items (lemon slices, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate muffins, Afghan cookies and Apple Cinnamon and Banana) muffins look to die for. Joe's serves food all day and has happy hour in the evening. The atmosphere is super casual and great for groups. There are several TVs and some sport is always playing (even at 7:30am). Definitely go see Joe's, you'll be glad you did!
I liked it. I'll go back. Slightly unusual in that there are no poached eggs and the hash was only lightly fried- basically just mashed potatoes- but it was all good. Hollondaise on the side next time as it came smothered.
After checking out the Zomato app for places near our accommodation we decided on Joe's Garage and strolled over from the Top 10 Holiday Park. We were a little apprehensive knowing that our little dude hadn't had a great sleep that afternoon but we needn't have worried. The moment we were seated, with a high chair brought to the table, crayons and colouring sheets were provided to help keep our little guy entertained. The waitress was more than happy to get the kid's meal order under way while we made our decisions, and gladly subbed out the chips for mushrooms with the kransky meal. We decided on the schnitzel and chicken salads for our mains and all our meals came out quite promptly. We were impressed with the generous serve size and loved how the kransky sausages were cut into little octopuses. We also got two of their alcoholic cocktails hubby was expecting a little more of a Jaffa taste and a kick in his. After the mains, the little dude was getting a bit hyper, climbing out of the high chair and visiting our neighboring diners so we unfortunately had to skip dessert. The service there was prompt and very child friendly with all of the waitstaff having a smile for our excited little guy as they went past. We'll definitely be back.
