Nice atmosphere good food and good wine, friendly service, great place just for a drink but also good for food

Ordered the beyond meat burger as was curious to try. Patty was ok, but burger was simply two patties, bun and half a plate of fries. No fixings, vegetables, etc. Compared to the non-veggie food not much effort or thought has gone into it and was substandard. Otherwise service was great, staff friendly and pub is charming,

Just popped in for a quick drink before eating dinner at the Banyan. Service was good as it was pretty quiet. The Harvey’s Sussex was excellent.

Husband had driven past this while doing a back route avoiding traffic on the main roads back from work recently and thought it looked like a lovely little pub. So today we drove from home in Winchester to find it, we did and had a lovely lunch, creamy dolcelatte mushrooms and chicky liver parfait for starters, burger and hunter chicken for mains, proper home made chunky chips and my skinny fries were lovely too, all good dishes. Lovely friendly and efficient staff (two young ladies, sorry I didn’t catch your names), dog treats and water which Pops was very happy about! Good decor and the most lovely open fires (one of a few in the building) I have seen for a long time and a sofa by it that we sat on with a drink until our food came to the table which was right by it too. Pops was told she could get on the sofa if she wanted! An hour drive away from home so we won’t go regularly but if we were near we would go again and we definitely recommend. I noticed they have rooms and if the ladies loos are anything to go by they will be decorated very nicely!! Clean, lovely wallpaper and decor, Dyson hand dryers and a lovely Scottish sea kelp soap and hand cream! Thanks team!
