Easily 5 out of 5 for this place. Service is always super friendly and the food is so so damn good! If you're looking for a more upscale vegan place, check this one out. It's a little more pricey but hopefully most places will understand you don't have to charge an arm and a leg for food that really doesn't cost THAT much to make... I know I'm paying for someone else to make it but some items are very pricey.
Was in search of some vegan soul food in the Charlotte area, and VelTree was recommended on many a Black-owned restaurants list. I dined in and got the drums w/ bbq sauce, mac n cheese, and collard greens. Came out with a piece of cornbread too! Yum yum yum. The drums — crispy and peppery, both breading and meat alternative having all the right spices. The collards! A nice big serving in a bowl that kept them hot, the juices I slurped up. And the mac n cheese was creamy and delicious. I was planning to take my leftovers to go...and then I finished everything Thank you for kind service and delicious, hot food. Bonus: it appears they also host events, fundraisers, festivals. Delicious restaurant that’s involved in community.
I’ve been dying to try Veltree for about 3 years now. Thank goodness for the new location in Ballantyne. We were able to experience their first time brunch menu for grand opening weekend. The food was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. Yes to the Shrimp and Grits. Yes to the breakfast platter. Yes to the kale ginger lemonaid. Yes to the red velvet waffle. Absolutely love the vibes being played and the layout of the dining area.
OMD! I have been plant based for over 8+ years, and this food was so good I could taste the love in it. I had the large Soul Plate: the country fried chicken, bourbon bake ribs, yams, potato salad, and collard greens. I am blown away by the Chef's work. I don't even live on this side of town, and I plan on making this a frequent stop (forget the gas prices). The atmosphere is impeccable, and the food is absolutely unforgettable!!
