Despite having a reservation, the restaurant was closed.
We booked the NYE meal described on the FB page. I received a call on the 30th asking if we wanted to eat in the ballroom or the restaurant. I asked which is better and they put us in the restaurant. They called again at 7:40 on NYE to tell us that we could come early since fireworks began at 9. Very late notice. We arrived at 8:30. Had we arrived at our reserved time, there would have been no service as the carving station wrapped up at 9. The menu was NOT at all what was described. The buffet was almost over. There was brisket and sausage, but none of the meal described- no prime rib; no oysters. They were out of the wine I ordered. They were out of chicken. We were disappointed. We ate, paid our ticket and left. I feel we were not informed properly of the event.
We made dinner reservations for Christmas with our family at the Hyatt resort, between San Antonio and Bastrop resorts. This is the fifth year in a row that we have enjoyed their Christmas buffet, but this year was a huge disappointment. The food was cold, disgusting, and overpriced. The quality was very poor, with dry beef Wellington and overcooked salmon. The vegetables were bland and the variety was lacking. We paid almost $500 for a family of five, at $60 per person for the buffet. Normally, this is a treat we look forward to every year, but this time we all left with stomach aches. We were very disappointed in the Hyatt's offering.
Meal and service were excellent, particularly because it was buffet style. Dessert selections could improve (ice cream! . A bit pricey, but it's at the Hyatt resort so not a surprise.
