So glad I found this place! I used to eat Cuban food every day when I was living in another city.Ps: Papi told me the coffee is his own special roast!! They have their custom roast prepared fresh each week. Definitely come here! So good. One single negative aspect was that the beef empanada shell was so big but there was barely any beef in it. There was just a tiny bit shoved into the bottom of the shell — maybe just 1/5 of the empanada had meat . I’m used to eating empanadas that are mostly full, around 3/4 full. I would suggest this restaurant make smaller shells if they’re only going to put a tiny bit of meat. Or, add more meat to their current shells.
Great sandwiches, we also love the sweet plantains aka maduros. We often go at least once a week.
TLDR: If you can 't find decent cuban you just did. Watch out or you may miss this place! Currently it 's a food trailer in a gravel lot with some covered seating close to a busy intersection so keep your eyes open. I have a small sports car and had to be careful in the lot but managed well enough. Even though it has some covered seating I wouldn 't stop here in the rain unless you want to get wet. Enough with logistics, bottom line is that this is an authentic Cuban sandwich place. It is apparently incredibly difficult to make a good cuban sandwich if you 're a restaurant in the triangle but this place does it. I 've went to a few others, one even claiming to be the worlds best cuban sandwich but it was not to be. Get the full 305 Miami . Sure they have some other things on the menu but what makes the difference, I 'm not stopping at a trailer called Papi 's Cuban and not getting a cuban sandwich and neither should you.
We tried 2 sandwiches (a media noche and a croqueta sandwich), a beef empanada, and a colada (espresso) to drink. The sandwiches were great. They also seemed to throw in an extra coqueta for us to try too. My husband shared he wished the croqueta snack was a little more savory/crunchy but overall it was really all great!! I loved the flavor of the sandwiches, especially the cheese they used. It was surprisingly busy when we arrived and now I know why! It’s a great place and I really hope they will be around for a long while in the community!
The dinner bowls are to die for!!! I would go there everyday of the week if I could. I also recommend the Rico Sauve if you're looking for a tasty iced latte
