I had their Special Chop Suey, plus boiled rice. It was great. Sauce, meat, prawns, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts and much more. Loved it. I had to set some of the rice aside; their portion sizes are very generous. Seven pounds. The entire former cinema building’s King’s Road side was rebuilt a couple of years ago, so Yau Kee gained a shiny new kitchen. Where some places just offer a windowsill while you wait, they have some seats to sit in. They open later than all the other places in Whitehead. I was easily able to park on the road outside.
The chicken fried rice is amazing. Great take away Thank you I will definitely be back again!!!
This Chinese was one in the area are usual one was closed. It was very quiet. There was 3 orders and the quality of flavour was poor! I’ve been before and it was not great but thought I’d give it a second chance.
During the Whitehead Summer Festival, the Whitehead Suffragette Society had people dressed in costumes portraying real-life campaigners from the early 20th century. After the guided walking tour, some performers were in need of food. Unfortunately, Jess’s Plaice and The Whistle Stop were closed because it was Sunday evening. Luckily, Yau Kee, on King’s Road, was still open for business. The performers ordered chicken and chips and thoroughly enjoyed their supper from Yau Kee.
