Better yet try a different sport all together. Try disc golf they have one located along Madras Avenue in Monterey. This area will be converted into new homes that will be sold to people who make six-figure incomes that means people who used to play golf here will not be eligible. Gentrification continues...
This is the course that provided shelter to the Firemen during the Big Sur fire of 2016.
Just an average golf course. Being a native, I always find myself going to the same courses, and I figured I would try something new this time. The price was affordable for being right off Carmel Valley but that's about where the good ends. The course isn't very well maintained, roads are bad, bunch of crab-grass, and poor layout. I did enjoy the clubhouse, yet I found myself still wanting way more out of my experience.
I attended a wedding here recently. I was not impressed with the cleanliness of the facility. At the buffet I had trouble finding a dish that was not greasy or have food stuck to it. Every glass I used had old lipstick prints on it. The eating utensils were similarly dirty. The ladies room ran out of toilet paper halfway through the night and I never saw it replaced. We asked several people to get some, but... well we finally left early. It was just gross. I rarely submit a review, but felt like I had to this time. Weddings are important days, and if you're considering this place.. look closely at everything when you check the place out. And Yelp: why is there not a rating category for cleanliness?
(Now closed Last month the fellas and I needed a much needed break from work. So we looked for tee times on Golf Now app and found a deal for the West course for $39 bucks with a shared cart. I thought Sweet deal! I booked for 3 heads for a Saturday morning round of golf. We got there, checked in and got our golf cart. There was a $5.00 key deposit for the cart but oh well (you will get 2 bucks back later ... The boys and I had a great time playing on the west course. The pace was moderate and we did not feel rushed at all. Beers in the cooler, a few lost golf balls, and relentless talking of man trash resulted in lasting memories. I would definitely come back here and play again. Oh btw, we also played the East course two weeks afterwards and preferred the West course more. I give this place a thumbs up being that playing on a Muni course would have cost the same. The views on the west course with the coastal breeze were great. The greens were good, but the sand traps were hard packed on one of the days we played. Give it a whirl because like they say a bad day at the golf course is always way better then a day at work.
