Thai Rice City Arms - Canterbury

Advertises itself as a 15th-century pub which, I think it’s fair to say, creates certain expectations. In fact, they’ve turned the place into a US diner, complete with crappy metal road signs and ads and neon. How anyone could do that to a historic pub, especially in that setting, then step back, brush their hands and think ‘nice’ is totally beyond me. Tragic, given it’s location and history. So. Won’t be back there until someone steps in and rights the wrongs.

Had many take aways from here, unfortunately like everywhere prices have increased which is fair enough. What I can’t accept is the decline in the quality of the food and size of portions. Really disappointed that they would treat loyal customers in this way. I won’t be ordering from there again, I’m sad to say. They have become an enormous rip off. Unless my experience was a complete one off I can’t see how they’ll survive as customers simple will leave and won’t return. Honestly sad to write this review as we like to support local companies, but it seems like they’re taking advantage now.

We have dined at this restaurant before, but this time we arrived, settled in, and looked at the menu. When we were ready to order, we were informed that guests for two reserved tables had just arrived. They were late and had not even sat down or reviewed the menus, so they were not ready to order food or drinks. The server told us that we would have to wait until after them, meaning our food would take about an hour to arrive. I asked if we could order before the other guests even sat down, but the answer was still yes, we would have to wait. Disappointed by this, we decided to leave. It's a shame because the food during our first visit was excellent, which is why we returned. However, we probably won't be dining here again in the future.

Awesome place to come with friends. Live music is always fun too! And cheap pints. Great, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Awesome decorations too! Very cosy

This sports bar is excellent, with reasonable prices and a great selection of ales and beers. They even gave us complimentary Jager bombs just for being a good group of guys. I will definitely recommend it!
