This was not my first time visiting this place. Always happy with their food and service. Unfortunately yesterday when I went there with business colleagues, the food was terrible.Ordered salmon for $22, I thought it was the safest option. The salmon was off, and when I told the chef, he just said 'it could be because of the fridge was too cold so it absorbs flavour from the fridge'. I can't believe what i heard, since I was in a hurry, I don't want to pursue further. Anyway, there are better place in the surrounding area, so I won't recommend this place.
Gardener's Lodge, in the natural environment of Victoria Park, is a welcome addition to the area. The picturesque historical sandstone building has been refurbished and reimagined as a café. I enjoyed the fresh pineapple and apple juice, the cost compares with elsewhere nearby. And it's nice to find a quiet place just around the corner from busy shopping of Broadway.
Poor first experience, unfortunately. Other than the great location this cafe falls short. There were 2 young guys running around like chooks without heads. There was no support, direction or management. My friend and I waited 20mins to get takeaway coffees and they couldn't get that right. We ended up asking for a refund and went across the road. Victoria Park is beautiful any time of year, just needs an outlet/restaurant that caters for passer-bys not just diners.
Got takeaway so can't really comment too much. Gorgeous building, staff were polite
