Do not let a negative review sway your choice of restaurant. Otherwise you'd be missing out on this gem of an establishment. Die Handelshuis has an old-world feel about it with a menu with a truly home-cooked touch (I had a delicious mushroom soup followed by ostrich steak, done exactly as my mother would have done it......if we had ostrich when I was growing up in the north of England) The local wine list compliments perfectly and the staff are attentive and courteous. 5 credit to you all, thank you.

Easily the only real restaurant in Calitzdorp. A stunning menu served in a historic building with fabulous artifacts and old world local products. The only place in town that serve a proper toasted sandwich and lime milkshake. The pear and blue cheese salad is to die for. Gaye has gotten it all right!

Lovely place for lunch or breakfast. Good service and great food. The scones were absolutely perfect. We always stop here when we travel through Calizdorp.

I had an excellent lamb pie. Good coffee. My wife's smoked salmon was good, but not great. Prices were reasonable
