Yum yum get you some! The best! Small out of the way place. We love it!!
I'm not a complainer, but my experience was not pleasant. Upon arrival, we were maybe the 5th table to be seated as they opened at 5pm. The room filled up pretty quick. We sat at an empty table for a good 15 minutes while guests that arrived after us were served chips, salsa and drinks. After asking our server and two other employees , salsa arrived 15 minutes later. It had a very odd flavor. Our food was okay, but not great. Our server was kind. We sat in the booth right in front of the door. The guests in the booth behind us constantly moved. The booths are connected so the back of the booth kept banging into my husbandback when the guests behind him moved. I finally swapped seats with him,, thinking I'd be fine. But nay... the bashing of booth backs continued the entire time we were there. I finally turned around and asked the guests to be mindful that someone else was behind them. They didn't care. This just wasn't a good experience and we will not be back. We live in Calhoun and had hoped that we would have a a close to home Mexican restaurant close by. Nope. We'll drive to West Monroe from now on. I suggest adding more spice to the salsa, ensuring guests seated first are served and the booths be changed out. Ask any guest who sits in them and I capromise e you they'll agree. Almost $100 dollars out of pocket and nothing to boast about :
For many years in Monroe 's Garden District, was one of only a few Mexican restaurants, Ernesto 's. In it 's heyday, going to Ernesto 's was kinda like going to the bar in Cheers, a place where 'everyone knows your name. ' Iron Cactus takes the meals/recipes as were offered at Ernesto 's and moved over into Western Ouachita parish, there in the heart of Calhoun. The food and the environment causes one familiar with Ernesto 's to feel right at home!
