We found the food, the service and the atmosphere most satisfactory and convivial. The waiter spent a considerable time talking to us in a friendly manner; he also made useful recommendations about the food and the range of lager beers. The lighting and the background...More
The staff here were very friendly and attentive. When I mentioned I couldn't have dairy the waitress made sure the kitchen and other staff were aware and suggested alternates and made sure to point out the sauces I could have. Not many places seem to pay that much attention. It was a good atmosphere and wasn't loud so you could have a good conversation. The food tasted great. The veggie pakoras were excellent appetizer and a great happy hour deal. the lamb main was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. I can never get enough naan bread and coconut rice which were both very good.
I've had the good fortune of having visited Mango Shiva several times over the last decade. There is no question that this is the premier Indian destination in this city. The best part of this restaurant is that they have mastered the art of welcoming in Western cuisine and fused with authentic East Indian flavours. The Butter Chicken Naacos, Lamb chops, and Chicken Biryani are without doubt excellent dishes that deliver incredible flavour, and truly satiate your taste buds. If you are a fan of TAO in Vegas for their take on Asian fusion, Mango Shiva should be your next destination for Indian Fusion. PS skip your beer habit and try their Mango Lassi it's delicious!
Pros: in downtown calgary so good location.popsicle chicken entree item is amazing. cons:Waitress assumed that mains don't come till entrees completed. One person was vegetarian and couldn't eat the entree and just kept waiting.Naan arrived burnt but reading other people's reviews it looks like this is common. You can see what the chefs are upto and it's probably not a good thing in this case as they were feeding selves whilst in the kitchenDefinitely wouldn't come back given our experience
