This is one of, if not THE best shawarma/donair I have had so far. I have had Shawarma in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and most of Calgary, and this slayed the competition. Clean, fresh, insane portion and best of all amazing service. Would and will recommend to everyone I know. Keep up the good work Alibaba, I will see you soon.
Owner is engineer by profession but cooking is his passion and the something is reflected in his service. He like to prepare everything fresh and in front of your eyes. Food portion is very generous and the food is very delicious. I would recommend everyone to try his food at least once and I am sure he will turn you to be his permanent customer.
I am always a fan of kabobs. so we find time to try different restaurants who serves this kind of food. so we came to downtown and found this humble place.. i believe it is a family owned restaurant. the owner welcomed us right away and helped us decide which one to order. we are not a fan of fries so we decided to change it to rice instead, and he was flexible about that. when we got our food he gave us free sauces that in some restaurants they do charge for it. the reasons why i didnt put 5 stars on this restaurant is that parking is not very convenient in this location, we need to pay for our parking. although there is a parking space for customers, it was full but nobody was in the restaurant. so i dont have any idea why there are so many cars but no customer. they also need to modify the rice. its a little bit greasy, i would really appreciate if they will just serve the plain basmati rice with a little bit of saffron. and also i miss that roasted tomatoes and onions on the side traditional way. and also they need to have to clean the restaurant appearance, its a little bit dirty. nevertheless, i would recommend this restaurant to anybody interested with kabobs.
My husband and I were in Calgary for the first time. It was during Ramadan, and we needed half a place to eat after we broke our fasts. He proposed Afghani. TripAdvisor reviews showed that AliBaba Kabob House was the best (only? place that fits the bill. I have a cozy, clean restaurant there. The owner and an assistant managed all orders. They apologized for so long, but it wasn't really a problem. We ate anyway. Anyway, it was worth it. I had the chicken-shawarma plate and my husband had the chicken-ktikka and beef-kufta plate. Some of the best we've ever had. Delicious, perfectly cooked, and everything was fresh. Very recommended. When we left, the owner gave us a few free baklava, I suppose we wait. The nicest guy I've met for a long time. Go to AliBaba. They won't be disappointed.
