The Secret Cafe - Calderdale

Bog standard sandwiches in a nice enough location. Fills a hole if all you want is a sandwich in a tea cake. We had a ham and tomato and turkey salad. Couldn’t really taste any of the filling, just butter. Wouldn’t come again

This place really is secret! We walked from Mytholmeroyd to Stowerby on the Rochdale Canal and planned to stop off on the way back for refreshments at the secret cafe. But there are no signs to help a weary traveller so you have to keep your eye on Google maps or you'll miss it. But it offered a lovely menu, very fresh salads, and a welcome for my dog. I'd go again.

I was excited to trying here for the first time. Sadly it’ll be our last. The chicken and tarragon pie was dry with chewy chicken and the pastry was stodgy, the instant gravy lumpy. The cheese and onion pie had no discernible cheese or onion just potato. The chips were horribly soggy and the veg was watery and tasteless with a puddle of water in the bottom of the bowl. The staff were friendly and food was prompt but they were the only positives today.

Came back to England for a visit back to my roots. Every time we visit we must have a full English. Very nice friendly cafe

I ordered a few Easter snacks, a chocolate cake, scones and Easter biscuits for my family as I am unable to get home for Easter this year.. and they are wonderful! Really well presented, the family love them. Free local delivery too around Calderdale which...
