You are basically at the end of a dirt road, approx 400 mts above sea level with total peace, serenity and amazing views all the way to Pisa in the distance. There were only a few couples residing in the farmhouse, as there are a few rooms only. The house is spotlessly clean and has a kitchen (no service available on the farm . NOW walking up to the restaurant for dinner is great (remember to book a table, as it is a popular one and I hear people come all the way from Switzerland to dine here! . The atmosphere is unbeatable the view is breathtaking. I understood that both the farm/s (actually there are two, one with and one without a swimmingpool and the restaurant are owned by a village cooperative around 10 families. Only the two chefs are hired. I have to say that I never tasted anything this good and fulfilling as our two dinners here...and for such a decent price! Everything was well made, tasty, delicious and would I ever return to Pisa, I would definitely drive the 20 30 minute trip up the mountainous roads to get here. The service was great and it was nice to chat with the waiter and to taste the restaurants homemade Amaretto. Mamamia! We also had a sneak peak in to the church on which premises the restaurant lies. It seems that it functions more as a museum these days. Do yourself a service and go to this restaurant you will not regret it. But remember to book a table it gets fully booked, particularly during weekends. Can´t get my hands down!
We had a great meal at this pearl of a restaurant. We were staying just outside Calci and decided to drive up into the mountains to visit this place, and we were not disappointed. This place is beautifully situated and feels very authentic and true to its Tuscan roots. For antipasti we chose the selection of cold hams and the prosciutto with mozzarella. We then went for a primi with pasta, fresh cherry tomatoes and cheese. And a secundi of the wild boar. The boar was really good, and the pasta was the best we tasted through our 10 days stay in Tuscany. The house wine also tasted great with the chosen food. The dishes were big, and the service was super friendly. They only speak Italian, but we managed by hand signs and smiles. In total for 2 persons we only paid 37,50€ including food, water and wine. A fantastic price for such a meal. Tip: Remember to book a table. It was our impression that this place is very popular among the locals. We called in the morning, and reserved a table, using the few Italian words we knew, and it was worth it.
