Probably one of the most expensive Chinese restaurants I've ever eaten. Save your coin and eat something regular. Yes, they want Chinese to go to a bigger city. Food: 4 Service: 3 atmosphere: 3
You have great Chinese foods that we always order there too bad no din in now but still take my family and I enjoy Thier Food Service: Meal Type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30
This used to be the best restaurant in Burns Lake. It changed ownership a couple of years ago and has gone steadily down hill. The recipes have changed and the food quality has suffered drastically. The service is no where near what it used to be and complaints are met with defensiveness. I would recommend either of the other two Chinese restaurants in Burns Lake over the China Moon Restaurant.
Since I have an onion intolerance, I put my order to “No onions.” The gentleman who took the order, probably the owner, said okay. Once I came back to the house (please ask for orders, several of the dishes had onions in them. I called for a substitute food without onions. The owner spoke to the cook and they both insisted that there were no onions in the dishes. I myself and the rest of the family could see clearly onions in the dishes. I went back to the restaurant and showed him the dishes with the onions. He could see what I was talking about and tried to explain to me that it is “green onions” and that they are not “weaving”. You can't even imagine the conversation I had tried to find out how green onions are not actually onions he said it's like apples that it's gala, Fuji, etc. good if I had an apple intolerance I bet my stomach wouldn't know the difference between a gala apple and a Fuji apple, finally they are both apples. This guy could not understand that green onions are actually onions, and that taking them will not be a fun situation for me. He told me he put green onions in the dishes for 36 years. This place was great before the property was changed. My whole extended family loved this place and would eat there every time we visited the city. Even for them, the food this trip was not up to what they were, it did not seem much taste to each of the dishes. We're not gonna get food from here anymore. I usually only brush myself when restaurants make a mistake and forget not to add onions, but if you insist there are no onions when there is, and you argue that green onions are not onions, then you earn a 1-star rating.
This is really old fashioned Chinese food, it's not good for you, but it's delicious ! They do put a lot of fresh vegetables in their dishes, the people were friendly and the food was made fresh. It's nice to have a place where the food is reliably good and so is the service. I have been back several times over the years and the food here is always good (I think that their plum sauce is homemade for their chicken balls)! I usually order the Chinese food, their salted squid is some of the best I've had, but their western food is pretty good too. I'd especially recommend their onion rings.
