The wife speaks French and English as well as Italian of course. We ordered paninis and the daily veal special and gelato. Everything was remarkably delicious, so flavorful and fresh. I highly recommend this place. Take the 5 minutes off the highway and eat here. They also have amazing local wines. I tried the Bonarda, Grand Cuvée from Ca’ Del Santo. I’m a wine snob and this wine was delicious!
We'd never heard of Broni but bumped into it on a cross country drive between Alba and Cremona, at about the time we fancied a break and something to eat. Le Cafe Noir was the first place we saw on a bypassed main road after parking, and as we took a stroll later on it was clear that there weren't a huge range of other options. However, it's a pretty little cafe in the classic mould, old style interior with a few tables out on the pavement. The coffee was good, a tomato salad came with a disproportionate amount of pickled onion properly sharp and tangy, but a little over the top as far as the tomatoes were concerned, and what the menu described as a panini was really an open sandwich on a big slice of bread with plenty of ham and hot cheese. It certainly filled a gap, the service was friendly and attentive and we watched in wonder as some of more mature matrons of the parish polished off simply huge bowls of ice cream which seemed a little over the top for lunchtime.
Un posto bellissimo, accogliente, i proprietari sono gentilissimi, l'aperitivo è fantastico, le brioches anche, se passate da Broni è un ottimo posto per godersi un caffè o uno spritz in compagnia.
