This is an updated review. We have not been here for a long time. One Saturday we decided to get lunch here. The food were still great. Service was great too. Our waitress were very attentive and polite. The place were not busy when we were there. Food came out pretty quickly. We'll go back again for sure.
Short review: Would recommend the braised pork belly with pickled mustard greens/Mei Cai Kou Rou/梅菜扣 heavily. The rest of the food was alright.Other note: They are also known as Gu-Xiang-Wei. Same exact address and they have a website for both places which is a bit different.I was at this restaurant was one of my walking groups as they unlike many other places do separate checks even for big groups. There was some peanuts to munch on while waiting. I decided to split a dish with another person as for some reason our group was already mostly separately but after the dishes came out, we shared a good amount of the food which is definitely more appropriate for the spot. In terms of the actual menu, it is a odd mix of Chinese food from a variety of regions though definitely mostly Sichuan and Hunan along of some American Chinese food. The first dish ordered from us was the Mei Cai Kou Rou/梅菜扣肉 or Braised Pork Belly With Pickled Mustard Greens which are the mei cai/meigan cai of the dish. This was surprisingly delicious and one of the best versions I've had in recent memory. The park was perfectly rendered down and there was an ample amount of mustard greens which helped which with the richness. I would actually highly recommend it. We also got the Stir-Fry Eggplant With Green Beans as we figured a lighter dish would pair well and it did. It was a lighter stir-fry and it was pretty tasty also with a good texture difference between the two veggies.Two of the people ordered the Mao Red Braised Pork Belly/Hong Shao Rou/紅燒肉. I tried a bit and it was alright. I've had much more flavorful versions from other spots in Flushing and several as well in Manhattan but still pretty decent. I also tried some type of hot plate beef which was alright as well (beef could be more tender. the fried rice was good and someone had a soup (unsure the type outside of it being pork as their main dish. I tried a little bit and found to be a bit bland compared to other places I've been to and it definitely needed black vinegar as well as some of their chili oil. Another person started with the Hot And Sour Soup/酸辣湯. As it was the more traditional variety, it was definitely less cornstarch focused and more on the sour end. Perfectly fine but I think it could have used a little bit more wood-ear and bamboo. Nice big portion. They also had the Kung Pao Chicken which was very different as there was little pieces of some pineapple for some reason. I wouldn't really recommend it much as it didn't taste like the actual Sichuan version but perhaps they changed up a bit because of what he ordered.The food that we ordered was pretty good while most of the other dishes were decent enough. If the braised pork belly wasn't so good, I probably would drop this down to a 3 but for that one particularly good dish and for the pretty reasonable prices for the portion sizes, it'll bump up. Service was also pretty friendly.

Small hole-in-the-wall Chinese spot in the middle of Flushing's China town. The place does not look like much, but they have amazing and authentic Chinese food! All meals are started off with tasty complimentary peanuts and tea, and the dishes are served family style. Prices are great, as you get a ton of food with each dishMy GF and I tried their sizzling beef, lo main, rice balls, scallion pancake and were very impressed with everything that we tried. We also were served enough food for 2-3 meals, so we had tons of leftovers!
