This part of the city has a cleaner, slicker look than most other food courts and is a wining combination of not being closed off and having a spacious feel - both which probably help each other. For once it does not feel tacky, the looks of it are modern and the seating is presumably comfortable. Mixed into this is a non-food outlet. Wintergarden definitely is looking good these days. Getting on back to work, it was the case of finding another place that does coffee. On the path between the bus stop and the employment destination, this was another place that I had yet to try and simply I ducked in to get some items before I arrived. This was so early in the morning, in fact, that most places were closed, I was walking against the flow of the crowd, cleaners were around and I wondered if I was in the right place. That doesn't matter when coffee is awaiting you. The service was both pleasant and quick. It had several people on board, ordering at the till (with smiles and good customer service skills) before heading to the right and picking the coffee up at the counter. Streamlined and effective - there is a place for this sort of service. Star Espresso had quite a few options for when it comes to both eating and drinking. As well as serving all the coffees, there is a range of milkshakes that is broader than usual, as well as fresh fruit smoothies and frappes. To eat, there is a big range of sweets in the cabinet which includes an extensive selection of macaroon flavours. There is something for the savoury tooths (this is the one time I am flipping it on its head, enjoy it), they have bagels. For the office, another couple of snacks were gotten - I decided on some banana bread (toasted and it came with butter as per usual) and a citrus tart. With this, without doubt, was along with a coffee to satart the day ahead. I got none other than a doppio. For the bean that they used to make the coffee, I remember it being Lavazza. Lavazza is rarely one that makes such a great coffee, usually having to settle as being a mid-carder. This was certainly not a bad coffee, but not one that I can remember much about. It might have been a little over-extracted, as well as a little too hot - even by the standards of short blacks. Whatever people are saying about this coffee, I will have to disagree. However, the sweets were quite a bit better. Banana bread is something which I have found to be a reliable snack. This time around was no different. It had a sweet and fluffy inside and they toasted it to the perfect degree, where it had a thin layer of crunch but that did not overwhelm the rest of the snack. The bit of butter that came with it was melted by the time I got it out of the packet. This helped infuse it more easily. It definitely had that taste of banana to it, not as strong as others but definitely not lacking. The citrus tart is one I might have preferred. It had a good pastry shell, a lovely filling with a distinct hit of lemon in it, and the chocolate finish (albeit a small swirl) is likely to get a bias preference from this little black duck. So how it goes here is that the sweets were both quite good, and the coffee left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. With the sweets, and perhaps other kinds of drinks like the milkshakes, they would be within reason to go and give it a revisit; as for their coffee, with all the competition around with many great contenders this can't quite cut the mustard in comparison. I won't be too harsh on it, because it remains what it is and that is an audience pleasing entry in the food court. I am always glad to see if there is an option that does not fall under "fast food" or being a chain, and a reasonable meal can be bought from it. The staff at Star Espresso get the idea of the traditional carvery, borrow numerous influences from it and have made something which does not appear often anymore in your local mall. And for that, I commend them. It probably ain't my thing, but whatever appeal it has is apparent and I am glad to those who like it. This is a case of different strokes for different folks.

Seems clean and presentableNo dedicated seating so fight for a good table in the food court Muffins, slices, macaroons, sandwiches, croissants.
Hold down with the coffee. Recently went through the wintergarden and took a coffee and muffin from this place. coffee was great, but the muffin was the worst I ever had eaten. it was frozen like a rock in the middle and as hard as to chew. no taste. for it is a bit of a condom to avoid eating and stick with the coffees on the safe side.
Great coffee. I used to be barista and I am very picky about my coffee. star espresso amazed me. the male barista makes delicious coffee at the perfect temperature and serves it with a smile. so glad I found her.
