The prices are very reasonable and the portions were sized just right so you didn 't have a bubble tummy at the end of your meal. My husband and I split the chicken/vegetables and the combo fried rice. I was surprised that the ratio of meat far outweighed the vegetables (I am weird, but I enjoy the veggies more). Our server, I forgot his name, but he had started working only a few weeks prior, was so nice and provided great service. The house spicy mustard was so good, but could be a little more spicy--it complemented the egg rolls and the crab/cream cheese ragoons well.
I came in towards the end of the night 9:30 pm was swiftly seated in the Dining area It's a nicely appointed spacious with tasteful Asian Decor. It instantly reminded me of the nicer but still reasonable Chinese restaurant where I grew up in the DC Metro area. Very much typical of the Chinese Restaurants from the 1980's. Service was prompt. efficient attentive but also allowed you to eat in a relaxed peaceful setting. They weren't hovering over you. They brought out water instantly took my beverage order. The drink menu had lots of great old school cocktails, a decent short red white wine list a well rounded beer selection. I ordered the Wonton in hot oil sauce with sliced scallions. It was DELISH. Simply but accurately cooked, fresh out of the Kitchen. I also ordered the Chicken with Vegetables. Again lightning fast from the Kitchen but not until I had finished my appetizer. As per the usual, the entree came with white or brown rice. The veggies were perfectly cooked al dente with lean quality chicken in a nice brown sauce. I enjoyed my dinner experience here. It's not overly fancy but its a great place to dine in. Definitely not the really cheap collegiate Formica table booth type of Chinese restaurant. It's relaxing an easy place to have good Chinese food. I recommend this place :
Delicious! Recently had gotten take out here from here twice. I had the chicken in garlic sauce with brown rice (says it was spicy, but I didn't think it was) along with wonton sooo and my bf had his usuals sweet and sour chicken with white rice. My bf judges all Chinese places on their white rice. Dragon East was a winner! I also enjoyed my chicken with garlic sauce. Packed with lots of crisp veggies. My brown rice was also good! The only downside is this place is pricey, but I guess you pay for the quality. We will keep this place in our takeout rotation for sure.
Dragon East is your typical average to below average Chinese restaurant on the Shoreline of CT. Dishes loaded with sugar, salt and sauces... making for a most unauthentic Americanized Chinese food that appeals to the people who have limited experience with authentic Chinese food. Kind of like the fast food of Chinese food. The menu is a duplicate of any of the other average Chinese restaurants on the shoreline and someone could blindfold you and take you to any one of them and you wouldn't know the difference. We were a party of five and ordered 5 main courses, two appetizers, a side of rice and a drink for two and the bill was $145 which is probably about average. The meal was bland and uninspiring, a one and done.
Just did lunch take out from this establishment. On the lunch menu shrimp lobster sauce was 15.00. Seriously, that is about double what it is for the lunch special in most other Chinese restaurant. The woman waited on me should learn how to smile and say thank you. When I brought my bag in the house the wonton soup top was not secured properly and some of the soup had leaked. Thanks but no thanks. To top it all off the portions are parsimonious and the food is about average. Nothing to write home about
