Loud, boisterous, but laid back and fun with delicious food and at least one amazing brew. The interior of the Ale Works is wonderfully done and the lighting is perfect; This place really nailed it with décor and ambience. That said, this is a loud and high energy restaurant, definitely not a place for a quiet and relaxing dinner. The food was fantastic, cooked and seasoned perfectly, plated beautifully, and served hot and fresh. I had the Montana Meatloaf (with Idaho Bison) and she had the traditional Schnitzel. Both were excellent! I also order the Scotch Ale this is a great brew that balances the heaviness so well you only focus on the taste. The only issue we had was the server. She seemed put off or something and avoided the table as much as possible. No smile, no follow up on the meal, nearly missed our drink order. Not sure what the attitude was about and it put a negative energy on an otherwise terrific night out. I'd definitely come back though and recommend you check it out.
Fabulous space (formerly a railroad freight house). Spectacular interior and beautiful outdoor patio space). Packed the night I went. Sat at the bar very friendly staff and fellow diners were super helpful with tips on where else to go in Bozeman. I had the bison potstickers which were excellent. Also had the grilled shrimp ceviche (which sounds like an oxymoron but was quite good). And the bartender made a perfect Perfect Manhattan.
Went on a very busy Tuesday evening. Was able to be texted when table was ready. Our waitress was fantastic and knew we had an event to go to. Ordered their special: Jambalaya. $20. Overall a smaller portion. flavor was okay, small shrimp. Lacking in protein. Wouldn't order again. Pork Snitzle: $20 large portion, the German potatoes and cabbage were light bit tasted good. Mashed potatoes I got for an extra $2. homemade but creamy not chunky. Also good flavor. For addtional mushroom gravy for $2.50. Unfortunately I got a side bowl of the gravy for the mashed potatoes but none came with my Snitzle. Waitress fixed promptly and took both charges off. Pork was nice and crispy, decent flavor and good size. would order again. Huckleberry margarita was their special. $10. Too much ice and too bitter. lacked the huckleberry flavor. A bit mild too on alcohol level. would not order again. Overall had a good time and would be back
I wanted to like it, it seemed like a vibrant place. Beer selection was great, no complaints if you just want to stop and have a few brews. The servers were friendly as well. But there was two issues with the food, first, while the pork meatloaf did taste well, as it was also the dish that was recommended, the vegetables were nearly hard as raw, I told the staff about it and they kinda just said “oh that sucks”…kinda a weird response. The second was the meatloaf musta had something off, I won’t go too graphic on google reviews, but the next day, let’s say I was more in the bathroom then walking.
