The Village Inn Pub and Restaurant

This is a great place to go for lunch or dinner. They have a large selection of draft beer. And always have a few local micro beers on tap. The owners and staff are friendly and serve is always excellent.

My family has been going to The VI for over a dozen years - since relocating to Bowmanville from Vancouver. This is a place that is a solid citizen of its community. Run for several years by former employees of the original owner, the VI is the kind of spot that you are happy to call your "local". Great beer choices - including local craft offerings as well as iconic drafts - and well executed, classic pub fare; though wings are the house specialty, my favourite is their beef dip and my wife says that their fish and chips are the best she has had since leaving the west coast. Local musicians tuck themselves into a corner on weekends. Yes, they have a few screens to watch the game (the owners are serious TFC fans) but it isn't a sports bar with the volume drowning out conversation or classic pub music in the background. What makes this place really work is the staff and the owners. They just take care of you. In the end, what else do you really need or want from a local pub?

Food was great though it was slow to arrive ( but they kept us informed and they apologized). Staff were friendly and attentive. I had the fish and chips which were very good, and my husband had the chicken pot pie which was nicely seasoned and the irish potatoes. Crazy bread was quite delicious!

This is a really nice pub to meet for drinks and food. The dinner we had was really good and great service.

We visited the pub for a trial run with a small group, service and food were great. We came back the next night with a large group of 25, service was fantastic, had a private room and server who handled us all efficiently and with a smile.
