Crown Carvery The Royal Oak - Bolton

I had never been to this restaurant before, even though I live in Westhoughton. It was amazing - the food was tasty and well presented. The value for money was excellent. The service was very attentive and couldn't have been nicer. I highly recommend everyone to visit this place, even though it was quiet on a Wednesday evening. I will definitely be returning.

The restaurant offers a pleasant atmosphere and a variety of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. They have a straightforward three roast carvery with a wide selection of vegetable options. The prices are reasonable, allowing you to fill your plate with plenty of food.

The restaurant offers great views and has a nice atmosphere both inside and out. The staff were fabulous, but unfortunately, the food did not meet expectations. Many of the carvery items were extremely dry and inedible, and it seemed they should have been replaced. My son managed to eat most of the food out of hunger, but the tough roast beef was too dry to enjoy. I ordered a burger which was overcooked and overly seasoned, but the chips were good. It is possible that we visited at a bad time, around half past 4, between lunch and dinner service. I would like to give the carvery another chance when the food is fresher.

Arrived at 7.30, eventually shown to a table!! Ordered gammon eggs chips.. no eggs! What restaurant runs out of fried eggs? Food arrived and was ok, one in our party had carvery, which was very beige, and one had scampi and chips ok. We asked about dessert.. too late kitchen is closed now, ice cream? no, kitchen closed, but maybe could get ice cream for us at a push! no apology. Felt like we were in the way. Definitely will not be back! Why didn’t they tell us when we arrived that there wouldn’t be time to comfortably enjoy meal and dessert…extremely poor and spoiled our night.

Not been in here for about 3 years, pleasantly surprised at this newly decorated eating house, nice bright and airy now. Although it was was really busy it was absolutely fantastic. Great family atmosphere , Carvery really good with all the trimmings. All Staff very attentive, no untidy tables, as soon as one became empty , plates cleared, which is really professional. Really was a lovely place. An absolute credit to you all.
