The waitress, who looked to be a young high school student, was completely disinterested in being there and informed us right away that All items with an x are what we are out of or no longer serve. Turned out to be roughly half the menu. When the hot pot ingredients came out, they violated food handlers code by tossing the tongs on top of RAW MEAT. So any person who handled the tongs would be handling raw meat and risking salmonella. The last straw was when they brought out the ingredients to throw in the broth--these spices were garlic, Korean barbecue, green onion, and a fourth ingredient. Besides the garlic, the other three ingredients were rotten. The green onion was old and curled up--no longer looked like green onion. The Korean barbecue smelled bad, and the fourth ingredient had mold on top of it. We know it was mold because we like to make sriracha and sauces at home, and this mold will grow on spicy ingredients if you let it sit for too long in the dark, which is exactly what happened at Hot Pot (they store the spice rack underneath the counter behind the bar). Also, the vegetables they gave us were frozen rock hard and looked like they had been sat there for months. My husband and I were both upset but decided not to say anything as the poor girl seemed totally overwhelmed. However, I had a hard time holding my tongue when we paid as she refused to make eye contact with us and instead had the audacity to say how tired she was and that she couldn 't believe the day wasn 't over yet. I had a hard time sympathising as, when she wasn 't busy ignoring us, she was on her phone and drinking soda. I am so sorry to see this place go downhill--we had fond memories of it from when we first moved to KC, but at this rate I think it 's for the best that the place closes so that something better can move in.
I had a great experience. The food was some of the best I've had as of late, our server was great, the building itself was neat and cozy. Great place to dine in, really looking forward to returning.
Good food. Even greater service. 10/10 would come again.
I work at a restaurant so I tend to be very forgiving as a customer and don't leave bad reviews but, I went in to buy some bubble tea last week and the first thing me and my boyfriend noticed was this horrible sweaty crotch smell that hit you as soon as you walked in through out the place which isn't appetizing to say the least, then we ordered two bubble teas which came out in cups half the size of everywhere else I've been and mostly filled with ice. I had the Thai and it was ehh, but he got the mango and it tasted like sun tan lotion and the bubbles were very mushy. Then we get up to the front and they charge us $5 each plus tax. We had to throw them away because they were so gross...not happy that I wasted my money.
I took my wife here for a long lunch. First time having Hot Pot and the employees were very friendly and attentive and took time to explain how to best prepare the dish. Definitely a great place for something new and different. Only complaints is that some of the menu prices (Meat Combo in particular) were higher than website and Lamb was scratched off the menu. Cost was fair for the quantity and quality of food. Will definitely go back again and probably take others.
